Happy Holiday Penguin

FINALLY! I get a chance to sneak in a post (even though it's 2:13 a.m.) It was bothering me that I hadn't posted anything since Thanksgiving so here is a Perky Penguin complete with Liquid Applique for that puffy effect on the hat. I colored him in with Copic Markers and Prismacolor Pencils.

Winter/Christmas Ornament & Pins

As I mentioned, here are some Sculpey Clay pins/ornaments with a Christmas/Winter theme. I used Sculpey Clay and ran it through a clay machine (looks like a pasta maker) to get the clay flat. I used Noir Black Palette Ink and stamped my images onto the clay. For the snowflake, I just used a stamp without ink and pressed it into the clay. I used my small scissors and and a craft knife to trim them and put them onto a cookie sheet. I baked the clay in the oven as directed at 275° for 15 minutes. I let the clay cool and then decorated them.

Each pin/ornament has a separate post with details:

I made a cute little penguin as well. You can see him here:

Snowman Nativity

Here is a card to help get you ready for the winter. This card is based on a sketch comes from my upline, Heather Scott. I used Reflection Blue Palette Ink for the snowflakes and actually stamped some clear embossed flakes in white, but they don't show up that well. I did use some non-TAC products like the Aleene's Glitter Snow and the Ranger Puffs Embossing Powder, but I couldn't resist adding some texture to the card.

Simply Elegant Holiday Card

Here's a card I created for an inspiration challenge at SCS. I originally wanted to use a bow, but I just couldn't make it work. After smearing some ink on the front of the image I decided to cover it up using some Bedazzler studs that I had purchased on clearance at the craft store for $1.

Holiday Stamped Gift Tin

Here's an inexpensive gift for someone that enjoys baking or you can fill it with cookies for the non-baker! A "Cookie Mix in a Jar" would complete it.

Supplies:

Ornamental Snowflakes
Ginger Joy - Vintage stamp set available until November 30th.
Staz-On Cotton White Opaque Ink
Icicle Stickles Glitter
Merry Wishes Paper
Metal Tin (I got mine from the Dollar Tree)

Here's a tip for stamping on rounded surfaces. Cut up one of the plastic containers that your unmounted stamp set came in and use that as your acrylic block. It will allow you to bend the stamp around the tin.

Penguin Christmas Notebook

My daughter keeps coming into my room to see what I'm up to and she always asks, "Who are those for, Mom?" I tell her that they aren't for her and she leaves the room disappointed. I decided to make something especially for her so I gave her this notebook when she woke up. She's happy that the pencil is attached (I had to use my glue gun to make sure the ribbon didn't come off the pencil) and especially likes the puffy Liquid Applique on the penguin's hat.

Supplies:

Perky Penguins stamp set (currently a Level B TAC Hostess Set- now in Spring 2007 Catalog)
Merry Wishes Paper Collection
Icicle Stickles
Noir Palette Ink
PrismaColor Pencils
White Liquid Applique
White mulberry paper (layered at the bottom for "snow")
Green cardstock (from my scrap bin)
Notebook (comes in a pack of 4 from the dollar store)
Pencil (I used wire cutters to cut this one to size)
Snowflake button
3/8" Ribbon

Baby Jesus Cookie Can

This is a little project I made last year to thank my sister for the nativity cookie cutters that she gave us. I adhered patterned paper to a clean mushroom can and added the stamped image. I also coiled up some thin craft wire for a handle. I was able to do this because I had just purchased a new can opener from Pampered Chef that kept the edges smooth. A fun thing to do is to glue the lid back on with super glue. You can flip the can over so the glued part is on the bottom and then decorate it. You can even send it through the mail that way. It does cost a bit extra to mail it, but it's lots of fun for the recipient to figure out what could possibly be in the can!

Supplies:

Can (use a can opener that doesn't leave sharp edges)
Patterned paper
The Only Thing stamp set
PrismaColor Pencils
